Our Story

As founder and President of Legacy LLC, Max Martin has been honored to create custom graduation timepieces for Saint John’s University and the College of Saint Benedict since September of 2020. Over time, Legacy has expanded to the University of Notre Dame. Started by Max and fellow SJU graduate, Conner Wagner, Both Conner and Max are passionate Johnnie Alumni who graduated from Saint John’s University in 2019.

During a long night of preparation for their economic capstone, the conversation about graduation came about. Although the graduation rings were being purchased by fellow classmates, Conner and Max discussed the idea of creating a multipurpose piece of alumni/graduation memorabilia. This resulted in a wristwatch which encompasses distinct, yet subtle aspects of the school. Additionally, the sentimental value of The Johnnie watch is driven by the Benedictine values we carried with us on campus and have carried over to our professional jobs and daily character. The watch captures the iconic hexagons on the Abbey church as well as the Benedictine cross as the centerpiece. Your name and class year are engraved on the back. The result: a classy, personalized, timeless design which has the subtle qualities to be appropriate in a business professional and casual setting. Each timepiece is custom made. The watch is hand-assembled, the dials are hand painted, and Legacy’s designs are created through collaboration with multiple alumni to ensure a unique, timeless design. Moreover, each final design is laser engraved onto the face of the dial and the back of the watch is engraved with your name and class year.

Making a difference with these watches was a driving factor in starting Legacy LLC. Therefore, for every sale of our watch design, we will donate 10% of profits to the scholarship fund of each school to help support the student scholarship fund.

We cherish our time at Saint Johns and Notre Dam. Moreover, we plan to take every advantage to be back on campus. We established ourselves as individuals. We learned subject matter and gained experience that we will carry with us for a lifetime. We created unbreakable friendships. And we gained a place that we all call “home”. Many people say that home is where the heart is. Why not have a small piece of home on your wrist? What’s your legacy?
